Al Souza was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1944 and currently resides in Wendell, Massachusetts. His work is part of numerous public collections including Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, Texas, The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, New York, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, Arkansas, Parrish Art Museum, Southampton, New York, and the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, La Jolla, California. Al Souza was awarded an International Association of Art Critics/USA Award in 2007 for Best Show in a Commercial Gallery Nationally, 1st Place, for the exhibition David Ireland, Jess & Al Souza at Moody Gallery (December 3, 2005 - January 14, 2006).
